  Who is Dagwood?
 

Dagwood Bumstead is the undisputed leader in sandwiches.  He is the legitimate alter ego of Dean Young, 2nd generation creator of the Blondie comic strip.  Dagwood has decided to step out of the cartoon and realize his life long dream of opening a chain of sandwich shoppes.

  Why should I buy a Dagwood’s franchise (What sets Dagwood’s apart)?
  Dagwood’s Sandwich Shoppes have a fun and entertaining environment with a comic strip appeal.  When you visit a Dagwood’s Sandwich Shoppe you will taste the best sandwiches, wraps, soups, salads and desserts that you have ever tasted all while having a pleasant experience that you will want to come back to.  You’ll love the food and you’ll remember your fun experience with Dagwood and will want to share it with your family.
  What are the steps in becoming a franchise owner?
  The first step is to request additional information and you will receive a set of brochures along with an application. 
You can either complete the application and mail it to us or submit one online. 
From there, you will be contacted by the Market Partner for your area of interest.
  What is the initial investment?
  We estimate the start-up cost to range from $306,800-$346,000.  More detail is available in the Uniform Franchise Circular that you will receive after you submit your application.
  What does it take to qualify?
  $100,000 Liquid Assets $150,000 Net Worth 650 Beacon Score
  Can I form a partnership in order to qualify?
  Absolutely.  As long as when combined the partners meet the qualifications.  All partners must complete an application.
  Do you offer financing?
 

We do not offer financing, however we are SBA approved and can help you when you work with the banks.

  What is the franchise fee and how long is the franchise agreement?
  $20,000 for a 15 year term
  What are the royalties?
  6.5% of adjusted gross sales
  What are the advertising costs?
 

4.5% of adjusted gross sales

  Does Dagwood’s help with site selection?
  The Market Partner (MP) for your area will work with you on selecting an area that you will like to open in. The MP will be working to locate sites in each area and will work with the landlords to secure locations.  Of course, you are also able to look for locations as well.
  Who negotiates the lease?
  The MP will assist you in negotiating the lease.  It is recommended that you have your lease or any other documents reviewed by your business advisor.
  What type of locations is Dagwood’s looking for?
 

A typical location will be in a strip center with a strong anchor, good visibility, strong traffic patterns and good signage placement.   An average store will be between 1,500-1,800 square feet.

  How do I learn to run my shoppe?
  An extensive training program will be conducted prior to you opening your Shoppe.  This will be completed in your Market Partner's Training Shoppe as well as at Dagwood's Corporate Headquarters in Clearwater, FL. 
  What happens once I open my store?
  You will receive full support prior to and during your opening process to ensure that you are capable of running your Shoppe.
  How long does the process take to open a store?
  The process varies based on available real estate and local permitting, however, the process will usually take approximately 8 months from the time that you sign your franchise agreement.
  Can I own more than 1 location?
  Yes, in fact, after you purchase your 1st agreement you can place a non-refundable deposit down on up to 2 additional Shoppes. This deposit may be refundable minus a $3,000 administrative fee.
  Where can I see photos of a Dagwood’s Shoppe?
  Photos are available on line on the Dagwood’s website.
  How much money can I make?
 

Based on Federal and State franchising laws, Dagwood’s, is limited in how much information we can supply on potential earnings.  You are welcome to speak with any franchise owner in the system regarding this matter.

  What is a UFOC and when can I review it?
  A UFOC, Uniform Franchise Offering Circular, is a legal document that we are required by law to supply you.  You will receive a copy of this after you submit an application to us.
  Where do I buy my equipment and furnishings?
  Dagwood’s has negotiated special pricing through a national vendor for all of the equipment and furnishings that will be needed in the Shoppe.
  Where do I buy my food?
 

All of your food will be supplied by a regional vendor in your area.  All of the food pricing including proprietary products have been negotiated with vendors to give you volume pricing.

  What advertising/marketing support can I expect?
  Dagwood’s corporate and your Market Partner will help you with your ongoing marketing and advertising.  Your advertising fees will be used to build the brand and build your store awareness in your area.  Of course, additional local store marketing will help you in your community and we will help train you in ways to maximize your sales.
